"And here we are again, back at the hardest part of every Quest/Tour! I don't get to cook nearly as many things as I did back in the day, and yet, it's still all but impossible to narrow the favorites down to only 2! Well, here goes...
From Greece, lazyme's http://www.food.com/recipe/shrimp-baked-with-feta-ouzo-and-cognac-503588?photo=386096
Shrimp is always a hit in my house, and this particular dish just has so many wonderful flavors in it. I'm still happy that I sprung for those bottles of Ouzo and Metaxa so long ago, because everything I've made with them has been a winner (starting with Elaine's Golden Greek beverage, which might have been the last ZWT?). Anyway, I digress...
Next up is Annacia's http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/side/potatoes/syracuse-hot-salt-potatoes.html from NYC
They're just potatoes, right? Nope, they're perfect little potatoes that made me wonder why I don't make potatoes more often. Perfectly seasoned, and the butter and fresh herbs made these all the better. I could've eaten these all by themselves and been happy as a clam!
And since there's NEVER only 2 faves, here are my honorable mentions:
artandkitchen's https://artandkitchen.wordpress.com/2016/07/17/tropical-dream-pineapple-shake/ (Not an approved Quest recipe, per se, but really good!)
Aww, DH said that his favorite was my http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/seafood/mgs-thai-rainbow-curry-with-shrimp.html that I created for the Curry Challenge, along with NWG's rice. He initially didn't believe that it was my own recipe. Nearly 17 years together, and he's still surprised that I know how to cook enough to create my own recipe? Eh, small things, right?
Okay, the longer I keep at this, the more faves that are going to come to mind, and I'm gonna end up listing every flippin' thing I made this year!
A million thanks to all of you hostie-types who make this happen every year, and work tirelessly to create a new and different experience every time! Well, that, and your supreme patience with all of us whenever things get a little "Romper Room" up in here. Come to think of it, I don't recall anyone earning the Quest ironing this year. Hmm, I guess I'd better be super, super good next year, just in case!
A million more thanks to all the members of my awesome team! We might not have been the chattiest of teams (I think we all tired our poor brains out trying to pick a team name ), but everyone's willingness to jump in and get stuff done, even in the eleventh hour, was a sight to behold. I would be proud to be on another team with any of you in the future!
Hugs all around !
Hope to see everyone back here next year! "
