I just posted my top two as well:

My #1 this year was Classic Thai Fried Rice by lazyme. I've never had curry paste in fried rice before and it was completely addicting!

#2 was Penne Alla Vodka by LifeIsGood http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/pasta/penne-alla-vodka-2.html. I loved the simplicity of this sauce which really let all the flavors shine. A classic but goody. (sorry, didn't take a photo for this one).

I've never seen ready made Bloody Mary mixes in germany, but then I have to admit that I never looked for them because I thought Bloody Mary was just tomato juice, splash Worcestershire sauce and splash tabasco LOL

I posted these completions in the threads but not sure if they have been noticed here? Actually one of these is one of my best of: Forever Mama's http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/new-york-new-york-pushcart-chicken-24158
And the other is Lavender's http://www.food.com/recipe/spaghetti-with-tomatoes-black-olives-garlic-and-feta-cheese-503003

This was my son's favorite and we all lived this delicious and beautiful chicken preparation. It wss suprrisingly quick and tasty. I loved the idea to serve it on lemon grass sticks.

The sweet selection was this amazing avocado pie. So different from all the pie I tried and super delicious. I already made this twice and both time I was asked for the recipe.

Since I'm still here this evening (leaving at the Crack o' Dawn for Mammoth Cave) so I decided to go ahead a post my Best Of  in the actual Best of Thread. So I did!   Azores  http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/salad/other-salad/chourico-and-quinoa-salad.html?p=9 by Mikekey
I loved the combination of the nicely spiced sausage to enhance the nutty texture of the quinoa. I also liked the smooth, cool avocado. Oh heck, I liked everything about it!!
 image

Also,  I chose another Azores http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/beef/prego-no-pao-garlic-nailed-steak.html by Baby Kato.
The meat was so tender and flavorful! I usually don't cook a lot of beef, but I'm so glad I did with this one - it's a winner!! DH loved both!
image

And since I had some extra time to think about it and see that other folks are mentioning some extras, I'm going to mention my also wonderful picks:

Greece   http://www.food.com/recipe/quick-greek-spinach-and-chicken-orzo-142560 by momaphet (good hot, cold or in between)
NYC http://www.food.com/recipe/maple-white-chocolate-chip-cookies-455047 by Sofie-a-toast (can't stop eating 'em)

I had such a good time cooking, looking, being challenged, eating, all of it. I cannot imagine how much work this is for you leader types - organizers, guides, captains, mates. I am grateful that you're all willing to take on all the responsiblilty and work. How you guys come up with the ideas is amazing. Thank you, thank you! (Now I can make my waaay late choice for First Time Tag! - when we get back from vacation!)

Shalom!

This is the first year that both my DH's and mine are the same.  Our 2 favorites were both from NYC.

http://www.recipezazz.com/recipe/sandwiches-of-mr-arnold-reuben-24608 by Forever Mama   The delicious russian dressing was part of the recipe and it made the whole sandwich.  We are going to be making this recipe regularly.

Thanks to all the hosts and Susie D for another wonderful quest.   I appreciate all the time and effort needed to put this on.
BK is the best host in the world.  She is a fabulous tour guide and anticipates all our needs before we realize we need them.
Muffin Goddess was a wonderful First Mate.   She was there all the times I really needed her.  We had a wonderful team.  They worked so hard on challenges trying more than one time to satisfy a challenge.  They were like the energizer bunny of teammates.

I'm just finishing up my "Best Of" now, but wanted to pop in and say...

Ack, Lynn, I'm so sorry!  I completely forgot about needing the Team 15 at the workspace deadline! image
It wasn't even on my radar to ask you if you needed me to assemble those for you, duh! I should've checked with you yesterday.  Sorry I flaked! image
I'll pop in tomorrow morning and eyeball the scoring stuff for you so we can compare for missed stuff.  Gotta grab one more link from pg 1, and then my  "Best Of" will be complete. BRB!

I would love if you would check back tomorrow morning and help check for the points.

Posted in the proper thread:

"And here we are again, back at the hardest part of every Quest/Tour! I don't get to cook nearly as many things as I did back in the day, and yet, it's still all but impossible to narrow the favorites down to only 2! Well, here goes...

From Greece, lazyme's http://www.food.com/recipe/shrimp-baked-with-feta-ouzo-and-cognac-503588?photo=386096

Shrimp is always a hit in my house, and this particular dish just has so many wonderful flavors in it. I'm still happy that I sprung for those bottles of Ouzo and Metaxa so long ago, because everything I've made with them has been a winner (starting with Elaine's Golden Greek beverage, which might have been the last ZWT?). Anyway, I digress...

image

Next up is Annacia's http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/side/potatoes/syracuse-hot-salt-potatoes.html from NYC

They're just potatoes, right? Nope, they're perfect little potatoes that made me wonder why I don't make potatoes more often. Perfectly seasoned, and the butter and fresh herbs made these all the better. I could've eaten these all by themselves and been happy as a clam!

image

And since there's NEVER only 2 faves, here are my honorable mentions:
From Greece,
  NWG's http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/drink/non-alcoholic-drink/caramel-frappe.html
artandkitchen's https://artandkitchen.wordpress.com/2015/06/25/ouzo-meatballs/comment-page-1/#comment-2447

From Thailand,
NWG's http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/side/rice-side/thai-jasmine-rice.html#page1:comment2164267

From PHILLIPINES,
artandkitchen's https://artandkitchen.wordpress.com/2016/07/17/tropical-dream-pineapple-shake/  (Not an approved Quest recipe, per se, but really good!)

Aww, DH said that his favorite was my http://www.justapinch.com/recipes/main-course/seafood/mgs-thai-rainbow-curry-with-shrimp.html that I created for the Curry Challenge, along with NWG's rice. He initially didn't believe that it was my own recipe. Nearly 17 years together, and he's still surprised that I know how to cook enough to create my own recipe? image Eh, small things, right? image

Okay, the longer I keep at this, the more faves that are going to come to mind, and I'm gonna end up listing every flippin' thing I made this year! imageimage

A million thanks to all of you hostie-types who make this happen every year, and work tirelessly to create a new and different experience every time!  Well, that, and your supreme patience with all of us whenever things get a little "Romper Room" up in here. Come to think of it, I don't recall anyone earning the Quest ironing this year. Hmm, I guess I'd better be super, super good next year, just in case! imageimageimage

A million more thanks to all the members of my awesome team! We might not have been the chattiest of teams (I think we all tired our poor brains out trying to pick a team name imageimage), but everyone's willingness to jump in and get stuff done, even in the eleventh hour, was a sight to behold. I would be proud to be on another team with any of you in the future!image

Hugs all around image!
Hope to see everyone back here next year! image"

absolutely, I'll be here. For the Olympic stuff, do we only get the points one time per square, regardless of how many times we hit?

Good luck with the scoring ... you are a great team and it was my pleasure being your guide.... thank you for playing it wouldn't be the same without all of you.

If you have any questions that I can help you with ... I am around all day today...

I look forward to seeing you in the tag games and special events and of course next year for CQ4... I wonder where that adventure will find us... image
