Anna when I click on this link I see your recipes at JAP... they are all marked private but I have no problem seeing them.

Is anyone else seeing Anna's recipes or is it just me?

Ger.......I think that you can see Anna's recipes because I'm guessing that she has you on her private recipe list. I get the same message as Pat that she has no recipes.

Not sure what Anna's situation is with JAP and it's none of my business..........but I think that I will likely end up in the same boat very soon. JAP is auditing a bunch of my recipes and making them private. Sigh.

Sounds like we do indeed have the same problem with them Vic. You may get a message that will "strongly urge"you make them private. I'm still there as I really don't want to move 2k recipes again.

Wish we could start our own site just for posting our recipes and games....expensive and would need a teck head for maintenance. sigh

Thank you for letting me know Vic, I very much appreciate it.

If it's any consolation I'm next... they have already started.

I know what they want. They want every recipe on their site to be totally original to the poster. Even changing wording as much as possible and some of the ingredients doesn't help.

So far, I haven't been hit, but sure I will be.  If so, I will not be renewing my paid membership.  I think having a site with only original recipes is a pipe dream.  Maybe if the members were all professional chefs!  In the meantime, I will not be adding any new recipes.

Yep. Sounds like we might have the same issue. Sigh.

About a month ago, they sent me a message that I had several 'stolen' recipes. They based this primarily on my recipe descriptions where I gave the source where I found the recipe....whether it be in a cookbook, magazine, or online etc. My whole purpose in including the source was so that I could give the proper recognition to the original author and not be accused of trying to steal the recipe. That apparently backfired on me.....and now I'm told that I've stolen these recipes anyway. I've put the source on probably 95% of my posted recipes there. Big sigh.

We've communicated 3-4 times so far. Mostly they tell me that I need to change the description, ingredients, and directions to make it my own. I've tried to edit a handful of my recipes to conform to this.......but so far they have not approved a single one......still stating that the recipe is stolen.

Anytime that someone leaves a review or comment or new photo......I get the dreaded message again and they make the recipe private. I have a feeling that all of my recipes will be private very soon too. I'm not sure how to change a recipe with 4 ingredients (ie asparagus, olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest) to make it my own. They still compare it against the original no matter how I change up the rest of the recipe.

Like you.....not sure what I'm going to do. I have almost 1600 recipes posted there. I just don't have the inclination or stamina to change recipe sites yet again. image

I agree with you........I think it's a pipe dream!

I've added 4-5 new recipes lately.....just to test the waters to see how hard this might be. (I've had no luck whatsoever trying to edit existing recipes).

I've changed the title from the original, left out any source info, and changed up the ingredients/directions somewhat. It appears that if they can't find that title by doing an internet search..........then they will approve the recipe.

Remember about a year ago when they went into a frenzy about stolen photos? I'm guessing here again......but I'm guessing that they received a strongly worded letter on an attorney's letterhead about stolen recipes and photos; took it seriously, and have since tried to protect themselves.

I've added recipes there in the same format for about 4 years now. They haven't been an issue until just lately. Makes me wonder who threatened them. Think it might have been Food? LOL.

Yup, been there and done that. It's all very familiar. Does anyone else remember Food. telling us (repeatedly) that recipes cannot be copyrighted as they are simply a list of ingredients available to everyone everywhere. That the intro, description, etc is copyright eligible. I can live with that very easily but it seems that JAP can't.

I think many of us may be in the same boat soon.  It seems like anytime someone reviews or posts a photo to one of our recipes they pounce... wonder who scared them so much....
